Pros

Benefits are great. It would be hard to match what we recieve here with another opportunity. Pay is very competitive as well.

Cons

Big company means lots of competition for key jobs and promotions. Lots of good people work for AT&T so it can be a challenge to stand out.

Pros

Career opportunities within the company were very good. They require you stay in a position from 18 months to 2 years, but after that you can pursue other opportunities within the company. For a technical career this had some real advantages because you were able to keep your seniority yet build on your resume and experience.

Cons

The fear of layoffs was always there, but in this economy where are you going to find a job without that fera? One downside I saw was the seemingly non-cooperative spirit between some departments. The "service" departments were given directives but the support from upper manangement to enforce the directives wasn't as strong as it could have been. It would feel as if you were the "bad cop" doing the bidding for upper management and when the department you were supporting didn't like the directive and would push back and "throw their weight around", upper management would "give in" resulting in those trying to enforce the directive have less creditability with their client.

Pros

Everyone that I have spoken with about AT&T as a company has actually given excellent reviews. Some actually rave about the company. Its kinda funny because they all seem to have 20+ years of service and that might be why its not really easy to get into. People tend to approach this job with the attitude of sticking around. In my new-hire class everyone keeps talking about retiring from this place. Speaking of retiring most of our instructors are retired AT&T employees and that says alot when your retirees just cant seem to stay away.

Cons

I dont really know yet. Overtime is wide open so I dont have a lot of personal time, but I'm not really complaining as that can be good and bad.
