Pros

This is a very Big company with a variety of work opportunities, and geographic locations. Experience at at&t looks good on a resume. It is a stepping stone to other employment. The company provides decent training opportunities. If you can find a good group, then you job satisfaction can be high, although, finding a team with good leadership, is difficult. Work can be satisfying, but again, you have to search to find a team that has good leadership, and can challenge you with work and at the right pace. Often inexperienced employees get stuck with work assignments that are too complex which is better than too boring.

Cons

There are no promotions in middle management or very few. There is no supervisor/management empowerment. AT&T leadership tends to be at 30,000 feet. Those close to work see management's numerous mistakes and even huge errors. The processes are nothing short of horrible, too much time to do anything because of trying to make single processes work for all groups and situations. Levels of approvals needed for even simple decisions go way too high. People often give up trying to actually be innovative, or to do the right thing since it usually becomes a battle against leadership and process. This poor senior management philosophy is causing many good new employees to leave as well as very talented experienced employees taking early retirements to work elsewhere.

Pros

The Benefits we receive are very good from what I understand from talking to other people in other major corporations and companies. The pay is also good in my opinion based on comparisons with other companies. Our insurance benefits aren't as great as they used to be, but we also don't have to pay for our insurance, and it's provided to us by the Company. There are also numereous other benefits such as Tuition Assistance, VERY GENEROUS Vacation Time off. We also receive bonuses based on profit sharing. Our Company Savings Plan is pretty much second to none. For over Dollar you put in, they match it %66 percent, PLUS you earn interest on top of that! VERY HARD To beat that sort of benefit!

Cons

The hours aren't very flexible with balancing work and family, but understand because the needs of the business.

Pros

Flexible schedule, peers are nice and professional

Cons

Lot of offshore contracting have caused many people to lose their jobs for years and continues to be the case. Layoffs consistently occuring. High manager turnover. Can take upwards to a year or longer to put paperwork through for a promotion. Benefits are horrible, expect to pay the bulk of expenses out of your own pocket. Entirely too much red tape to get anything done.
