Pros

The best reason to work for asda is definitely the colleagues in store, right from the beginning everyone is extremely open and friendly and we all have a great laugh together. The wages are reasonable considering the skill levels required and they offer lots of opportunities to do further training and advance within the company.

Cons

Being left short of colleagues far too often. Most weeks in my store contain at least 2 days where we are left extremely short staffed. This particularly affects us who work the back shifts and who are usually left to deal with all the organisation work of front end at the end of the night as well as taking care of 20 self service checkouts single handed. If the management would give us more contracted hours this would be much less of an issue and it would make working there a lot easier.

Pros

For most it is good pay for easy work, especially if you run a till. Often chance for overtime, and always offer it to the good workers first. Very accommodating with holiday.

Cons

Personnel staff useless, never able to give you uniform (I did full time nights for 4 months on one shirt), often mess up pay, lots of managers and the majority are very lazy. Get paid the same as people who do so little work, no discipline at all for poor workers or regular 'sicky; pullers. Worst is the low wage budget.
