Pros
Pretty good pay. Paid to put me through an apprenticeship. Learnt a lot of transferable technical skills. Though a lot of work was routine, unprecedented faults engaged brain which was rewarding.
Cons
Long hours. No enhanced OT. Stressful working environment due to budget cuts. Company don't care about you and you're always playing the blame game to protect your job.
