Pros

3-4 week vacations for Europeans with the entire month of August off. Ex-pats in NA still take the month of August off.

Cons

Complete dismantlement of American work ethic and culture. Extremely political and bureaucratic to the point of detriment to the employees and to the business. Aloof and arrogant management that seem to enjoy settling scores, rather than turn profit. Process comes before progress and profit.

Pros

Great peers. Folks are very smart and willing to share knowledge and work together to resolve technical issues. Everyone is interested in resolving issues and creating a product to be proud of. Vacation accrual rates are better than typical. Potential for up to 20% bonus each year. Medical benefits are top notch. 401(k) is generous with employer match. Opportunities to work on-site (various international locations) with state-of-the-art complex power control systems can be a great career benefit to young engineers interested in this growing field. Internal transfers to international locations are possible and encouraged. On-site commissioning of systems is expected and can be interesting.

Cons

Salary is about 10% below rate, and bonuses are difficult to get to make up the 10%. Extraordinary effort is required and burnout is an issue. Vacation time is difficult to schedule and travel to site is required of all engineering talent. Site travel can extend multiple weeks without breaks. Management exerts extreme pressure to stay on site (international travel) and will not offer additional compensation. Opportunities for promotion vary greatly between sites. Be sure to ask about specific options when inquiring about open positions.

Pros

Great benefits, very smart people to work with, flexible work hours, plenty of work. I enjoy working here and the vacation, 401k, and health insurance benefits are especially good. The people are extremely smart, top leaders in their technology fields. The office hours are 10am to 3pm so early or late schedules are both possible. There is lots of work. opportunities to be involved in project, and move around the company.

Cons

Salaries are just ok. Training programs not very good, it's a 'sink or swim' environment. Employees supposedly get 2 weeks of training per year, but that doesn't seem to happen. The project work can be scattered and disorganized. Documentation is not a priority and often software documentation is insufficient to really understand the functionality.
