Pros

Nice people and building but in an inconvenient area with gridlock traffic coming in and going out on Willows Road. Cars are bumper-to-bumper and you have to drive to go anywhere for lunch other than the on-site restaurant.

Cons

Still on Lotus Notes and entire IT part of company is really messed up and behind over 30 years. You have little to no guidance on getting to key areas as an employee with about 25 different log in links and passwords that aren't yours of choosing. It's an antiquated system and needs re-vamping. They keep saying they will change it but they never do. It's nearly impossible to work there and try to get things done. It's a really quiet place and you can hear a pin drop. It doesn't foster growth or imagination. You are locked out of most of the internet with their dated web browser security system. Don't even think of looking at Facebook or anything like that because you will be blocked.

Pros

Pros: 1. Vast amount of information and knowledge available 2. Very good infrastructure and office environment compared to other engineering companies 3. Opportunities galore if you and your boss, both are from same region, i.e. Bengali Boss-- Bengali employee, you are at right place! 4. Very ethical about business practices, very very high on integrity among management.

Cons

Alstom India, one distinguished question strikes to ones mind that this particular entity is existing in India since last 100 years (Recently they celebrated their 100th year in India!), with similar workforce in Delhi area. Every time their leaders come from International offices have one promise for sure, we are expanding in India and we have big plans for India, but unfortunately they just want to exist in India to bid for projects and carry their all operations from abroad, because ALSTOM India has failed to build the trust for carrying out engineering projects alone. Bigger cons are: 1. No matter how much skilled you are, you may fall in a big and endless tunnel of too much technicality with no appreciation and growth path. 2. Not a good company for career starters, good for those who want to do an MBA. 3. If you don't have a godfather make one asap after landing.
