      Emerging Markets Specialists in Financial Products

      Pros

      Long-term view (willing to invest in markets that may not be profitable for decades). Local expertise (NOT a US company doing business overseas, but truly global). Improving balance sheet and (once again) a good long-term outlook.

      Cons

      Not an insurance business inside of an insurance company. Short-term prospects are still unknown. Given 2008 near bankruptcy, tentative management view is to be expected.

      Pros

      Solid benefits. Rich history. For people starting their career here, its a good place to learn your craft. You will have opportunities to learn and gather knowledge. Work hours are not extreme.

      Cons

      The company is undergoing a lot of changes since 2008 financial crisis. Like other large companies, cutbacks and internal depts striving to survive in the new "AIG" by asserting their own will against each other are commonplace now. Monetary increases/bonuses and job stability is unsatisfactory these days as AIG is pulling itself back on its feet.

      Pros

      The salary and benefits were high average for insurance, the office/perks are fair to good, security is better than average.

      Cons

      Little or no upward mobility, the computer systems are poorly designed for the actual work done, the management displays a larger ego than their experience warrants.
