Pros

Really nice people work here. It's also semi-technology, so you'll get your feet wet, and have a greater chance at actually getting a job at a real tech company. The company is large, so you can learn about different processes.

Cons

There is no pay equity. They even sell a pay equity tool to their clients- but unless you're a manager level and above, you do NOT qualify for a bonus (they lie about this on interviews). Most of the people at the levels below that, even with 10 years experience, do not get a bonus. Those who do qualify for their bonus (which can be upwards of 30%- proving they HAVE the money) are disproportionately white. So basically, there is little pay equity here. ADP also does not have a real diversity department (they dissolved it) so, this makes sense that they don't really value it. They can't seem to keep Black and Hispanic employees yet don't pay them at the same rate, don't promote them at the same rate, and don't even read the comments from the surveys they administer. They also don't even believe MLK Day is necessary to have off. Make it make sense. If you can leave ADP and make 50%+ more, as many are doing, there's a problem with their pay. Leadership does whatever they want, makes their own decisions, and then tells the associates to get in line. ADP can be given a formula to fix their process and actually retain employees, but those at the top will always do the opposite. There has been a mass exodus for a reason. Even though they do nothing to retain their employees, they're upset when you leave. I know countless people, including myself, who when they left, their leaders didn't say anything to them- even on their last day. As soon as you finish transitioning and helping them, they don't care. The company promotes being an HCM company that is "Always Designing for People" yet HR and the leaders who run it do the exact opposite. Always Designing for People does not mean rushing folks back into the office, paying associates pennies, and not listening to the people who execute strategies and keep the company afloat. Time for some progressive leaders who can change things and actually retain/promote people.

Pros

I enjoyed being around my co-workers, with some I have made long-lasting friendships. I liked that they had unlimited free coffee, would do free food once in a while, and had a lot of cool perks (gym, in-house doctor, etc). I thought management was very understanding even though the work-life balance wasn't great, they tried their best to accommodate.

Cons

The work-life balance wasn't great. Even when they didn't have mandatory overtime, you still had days where you got a call 10 minutes (or less) before your shift and were stuck for 2 hours sometimes. I didn't like that you're thrown into the fire while helping rude customers on issues that you weren't trained on and there wasn't enough in-person support where you could resolve the issue in a timely manner, you would be stuck on a call a lot longer than needed just because you couldn't get an answer quick enough or you would spend a lot of time trying to understand what the support specialist is telling you so you can be comfortable enough to explain the answers/issues to the client. I also realize that I am more of a behind-the-scenes kind of person so customer service, especially at this level isn't suitable for me. I thought the medical insurance was way too high for what you get. I was paying over $100 a month for high deductibles, my medication cost me $329 recently; where my old employer was $30 a month and I was paying $15 for my medication.

Pros

My colleagues and direct manager are very kind people. I was able to work remote.

Cons

First let me start off by saying that this is in fact a CALL CENTER. They will 100% lie to you in your interview. I directly asked in my interview if this was a call center or if I would be constantly be answering phones and their response was “you only receive calls from your assigned clients.” This is absolutely not true. I took calls from 8:30AM to 5:30PM from northeast, south, central and west coast markets. One after the other non stop. Not only are you taking calls all day but you are expected to also have a full list of clients. I had a client list of 108, trained new hires and expected to keep my phone line open for more than 80% of the day. Payroll advisors are basically in the trenches and their is no end in sight. You just keep your head down, work through lunch while being screamed at by unhappy clients who were over promised things by sales and there is nothing that we can actually do. Sure you get 80 hours of PTO but you are only able to use them between the months of February and October. If there are too many people out then you are not able to take a day off. It is first come first serve when it comes to long weekends or major holidays which usually go to the favorites of the management team. Those who are “happy” completely drink the kool-aid and are blinded by playing kick ball in an old parking lot once a year and occasional snack boxes full of candy like we’re children. You are indeed just a number at ADP. There is no moving up unless you kiss the butts of upper management. Raises and bonuses are slim to none. Management only cares about the stats their team brings in, ie how long they were on the phones. It is the straight up 70s work culture at ADP and they will constantly lose hard workers and fantastic employees. Unless pain and crying is an ideal work place, go anywhere else.
