Management needs a shakeup

Pros

Pay and benefits are very good. Relaxed atmosphere.

Cons

Poor management leads to poor quality products. No vision, no leadership, no accountability, bad decisions, over-reliance on ancient technology, no training, etc. For a company that preaches innovation & simplicity they stubbornly cling to 40+ year old backend systems that no longer fit the needs of the clients. Old systems lead to major constraints in the supporting software. Also, the focus at ADP is only on delivering as fast as possible with as few resources as possible. This causes the quality and user experience to suffer but Management scratches their heads and wonders why sales are slow and clients are leaving in droves, pinning all the blame on the employees as if they were responsible. The atmosphere at ADP is pretty negative as evidenced by the low survey scores year after year. Employees are over-worked, too busy and stressed because of a lack of proper resourcing. Management promises to do something about it but never delivers because there is zero accountability at ADP. I predict over the next 5 years or less ADP declines significantly as newer competitors enter the market with better quality products & more efficient service.

Pros

It was a job... They had a very strong training program, which makes sense since they turn over the entire department about every 18 months.

Cons

There was little to no regard for the employees. They had a turn and burn mentality to their people. So much so that it was common practice to have 2-3 new hires in the department who would "sit on the bench" and train for a month or two while they waited for the next person to quit.

Don't Do It!

Pros

Lots of windows in the office. IT support is good.

Cons

People aren't friendly. Entire office is depressed and/or hostile. Not a pleasant environment to work in. Once you're hired, you cannot change position for the1st year. Don't go there thinking you can "get your foot in the door", and then move to something more interesting within the company. Training is non-existent. They'll hold you accountable for things you've never been trained on, or even made aware of. They hire processors who have no experience. Senior Management (offsite) does not want their managers to know how to process payroll (not just not doing the processing, but actually not even have the knowledge). So you've got managers who don't know how to process, hiring people with no payroll experience, and no training program to teach these new associates. Asking questions is frowned upon. I received FAR better product support from ADP as a client processing payroll, than as an employee processing payroll. Long hours are expected to be worked. While OT pay can be nice from time to time, any prospective employee needs to be prepared to regularly work 50-60 hours per week. Having much of a life outside of work is difficult, albeit not impossible. I came to ADP, because ADP is the best in the industry, and I wanted to work with the best. This has turned out to be a bitter disappointment. This section is staffed with sub-par personnel - far from "the best".
