Description The Roboyo Story
Roboyo was born from a leap of faith - a giant step into the unknown, based on a promise. India, 2016. Nicolas Hess and Christian Voigt, both employed by leading consulting firm Deloitte, were collaborating on a shared service centre project for a large reinsurance company. One of the first Robot Process Automation implementers, Gen4, was among the other contributors to the project, analyzing the processes involved to assess their potential for automation. Straight away, both Nic and Christian were blown away by the future potential of this technology. The concept of RPA represented a radical departure from previous approaches to optimization, which tended to focus on ever-more complex software and integrations. So many clients were struggling to join up internal processes into efficient, connected systems, and RPA offered the potential for a much more flexible approach. Nic and Christian could see that this technology could be applied to almost any organization, anywhere. Most importantly, they could see that taken in combination with other emerging technologies such as AI, they had barely begun to scratch the surface of its potential. Nic and Christian could see that making RPA into a viable commercial proposition would require focus and commitment. They also knew that top notch execution would be paramount, and they knew the right person for the job: Nic’s former flat mate, Sven Manutiu. A meeting was arranged and Roboyo was born. All three left their jobs to jump, feet first, into the new world of automation. As befits a thoroughly international company, the three founders worked from different cities from the start: Christian in Switzerland, Sven in Munich, and Nic in Nuremberg. Sven focused on building Roboyo’s robust and flexible technical infrastructure, including becoming one of UiPath’s first ever partners. Christian developed the consulting methodology that still underpins all Roboyo’s client work, while Nic’s specialism was in building the sales pipeline for the fledgling business. Would clients want such an unknown technology still in its infancy? Could a tiny, new consultancy secure the kind of projects that would allow them to demonstrate the power of RPA? The answer to both these questions was yes. Through dogged determination and an unshakeable belief in the power of RPA, Roboyo landed not one but two major clients in 2016 – leading Austrian construction company Starbuck, and recruitment and employment giant Randstad. “As it turns out, clients were very happy to work with a small specialist partner – and loved our super focused approach. Like many other new businesses, we had some teething problems with project delivery, but we had the best technical foundation from the beginning, and clients were keen to work with people who weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty on projects.” Since then, Roboyo has gone from strength to strength. We still work with UiPath as one of our primary partners, but where we were their partner number 4 or 5, they now have over 1,500 partnerships across the world. We employ over 600 people, some of whom are now celebrating their seventh anniversary with the business. But we are still pushing forward into the unknown: we have not yet reached the full potential of Intelligent Automation. “Originally RPA was simply about cost-saving, but as the technology has developed, it has been used for compliance, regulation, customer success and customer satisfaction. Our clients are using it to create value, not just cut costs and it has the potential to transform every type of business. Even our biggest customers are still at the very beginning of their automation journey – we are excited about what happens next.”
