The conversation lasted over an hour and in the end, he made me a verbal offer and had me fill out an application. He said he would call with a start date but he first had to speak to the engineering manager. I sent a thank you email, I followed up, I called the HR Manager and his assistant and they absolutely ghosted me. It would have been easier to have been told they changed their minds, I was happy to accept their offer even if it was 30% below the market rate. The experience was completely unprofessional.
