Round 1 - Let’s see the first round interview consisted of two people from the company (one of whom was the cofounder) and myself. They asked about my resume and background. They also gave a brief technical assessment, so three quick python questions as well as an analytics brainteaser. These assessments took up maybe 15-20min of the interview. The rest of the time was spent on discussing my background and answering questions I had about the company and the role. The interview was scheduled for 45min, but they were willing to go quite a bit over that time to address all of my questions. Round 2 - This is a take-home question with a presentation you put together on it. The question was apparently a simplified version of one of the projects they work on. In round 1, the interviewer told me that an interview is a two-way street. They like giving this question because it gives the candidate the chance to see the type of work they might do if they got the job in addition to gauging your presentation skills and to see how you think about a problem if you have time to think about it first. There were a lot of questions gauging my depth of thinking on certain parts of the problem- things like ‘I see you simplified things there, what would you do if you had more time?’ Round 3 - This was a series of google hangouts. I was applying during the pandemic, so I imagine in other times, it would have been in-person interviews to meet the team. There were 4 30-45 minute interviews/meetings here. One was a general analytics interview looking at some data in google sheets. The second was basically a discussion on my resume, so I guess you’d call that a behavioral interview. The third was a collaborative session where I was asked to work with a senior data scientist on the team to solve a problem. I would basically instruct him on what to code and he’d code it. And finally, I met with the dept head to talk more about the role and answer any questions I had. Each interview was with different people, 1-2 people from the company on each of the calls.
