One interviewer started to ask me a question in Spanish to test my 'fair' ability to speak and understand the language. I explained (in English) that while I was taught the language and can speak it, I was not comfortable with my competence level at that point and so prefer to brush up on these skills instead of speaking in an interview of that nature. They agreed and quickly moved on.
