Most of the questions were about my previous project. With a sound understanding of the project rationale, they are easily answerable. Other questions involved my reason for the choice of the institute and what my plans are after PhD.

Wave equation Laser physics Fiber optic principles and many many other things. Basically anything around physics, maths and optoelectronics. Interview lasted over two hours and was purely technical.
Most of the questions were related to my research plan and my background. Since I was applying for a multi-disciplinary research school, they were asking also about my affiliation and knowledge of the other two disciplines. I found the academic questions quite challenging.
