I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Dublín, Dublín) in Jul 2017
Interview
Technical Trainer - Web Services position advertised on the Workday website.
I applied for it on June 27th, 2017.
The interview process was handled by the London office and the US. The role would have been mostly based in Amsterdam requiring up to 75% travel to and from the Netherlands. Delivery type: classroom and net-training.
INTERVIEW 1 planned: July 4th: screening interview with a Talent Acquisition Partner.
- Cancellation number 1 by Workday: interview postponed to take place 2 hours later.
- At said time, the recruiter does not know how to dial between the UK and Ireland and
requests a dialing code via email.
INTERVIEW 2 scheduled on July 6th by Workday for July 11th: with the Technical Training
manager.
- July 10th; workday reschedules for Thursday 13th of July.
- July 13th: Workday cancels and wants to reschedule for July 17th.
INTERVIEW 3: scheduled for July 28th at 3:00 pm: involves a remote presentation to the
Technical Training manager
- Workday reschedules to 2:00 pm instead of 3:00 pm a week in advance
- July 28th: no show from Workday: multiple emails sent to workday to inquire as to
whether I was going to do the presentation that afternoon.
- 4:20 pm: I receive an email from the Talent Acquisition Partner: "I’ve been locked in a
room trying to get a project complete that had a deadline of 4pm GMT!! I’ve spoken with
XYZ and she is also incredibly sorry. She was pulled into a meeting and her laptop died
so she forgot about the interview with you."
- Rescheduled for August 2nd at 3pm.
INTERVIEW 4 (last phase): scheduled for August 7th: with the VP Education from the US.
- The VP has now finalized what type of Trainer they are looking for: they are looking
for a Financial trainer (note that I had applied for a Technical Trainer - Web
Services position - It was discussed that I would ultimately specialize as a Financial
trainer throughout the interview process but they progressed me through to the last
interview stage nonetheless).
- Feedback scheduled on August 10th: no feedback received. I inquire by email.
- Feedback received on August 11th: "Sorry for the delay but I have some feedback for
you. Unfortunately, the team have decided not to progress with your application. We have
identified a candidate whose background is a closer match to our requirements.
Thank you for all the effort you put in, we know job applications are a long and trying
process, and we appreciate the effort put into ours. Unfortunately, there were just so
many good candidates with lots of relevant experience.
We wish you the very best in your job search."
- I reached out to the team indicating that having gone through the whole interview
process, they must have seen enough qualities and relevant experience in me to consider me for a
similar open position at Workday that would enable me to become a polyvalent trainer 6 months down
the line.
- Response: none.
SUMMARY:
- 5 reschedules, 1 no show: total interview process: 45 days.
- Workday has very little respect for potential employees and does not seem to value their candidate's time.
- Workday seemed to finalize the job specification AFTER they posted the position.
- Here are some of Workday's core values: INTEGRITY/"We say what we mean, and mean what we say. We stick to our commitments, treat everyone equitably, and communicate openly and honestly." FUN/ "We also feel it’s important to have a sense of humor. We like to laugh—it makes our work that much more enjoyable." INNOVATION/"We aim for innovation not only in our development organization but also in the way we approach all aspects of our
business."
IN CONCLUSION...
I would like to thank Workday for their innovative approach to integrity:
it made the interview process so incredibly enjoyable over one month and a half. There were so many rescheduling that my time was constantly taken by their interview process, leaving little time and energy to focus on any other job applications. I would definitely highly recommend applying for any
position at Workday: you will have great fun, they will laugh a lot but be careful: the joke is on you!
