      Omaince Interview

      Feb 20, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Newburn, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Vodafone (Newburn, England) in Oct 2016

      Interview

I had two interviews with Vodafone, pursuant to an ad they placed for a role on a professional job page. After applying, I firstly received an unscheduled call on my mobile from a lady in Talent Acquisition (TA). As I sit in open plan this obligated me to scramble into a side room in order to take the call. The lady TA then peppered me with questions about my skills, and even demanded to know details of my current package. Shortly after this initial call, I was emailed by another person in TA and asked to attend an interview at their Newbury HQ. The departmental head joined via video link while another member of the team and I sat in a conference room. I felt the interview went reasonably well. Indeed the business unit that this opportunity sat within was of a very similar size and scope to that I was performing in my current role, and the fellow I sat with even noted the similarities. At the end of the interview, the fellow I sat with said that TA would be in touch. The email from the TA team member scheduling the interview directed me to the original lady TA as to the person who would provide feedback / next steps. Accordingly, I emailed her and asked for feedback / next steps. I did not receive a reply. Therefore, I duly searched my mobile log and found the number of the lady TA who had originally rang me, and dialled the number. She did not take the call. Nevertheless, I left a polite message and asked for feedback / next steps please. I never heard anything further from Vodafone. I found this experience to be a negative one. I was made to feel that I was just interview fodder to help them justify a decision which they seemingly had already made before they had even initially rang me. Overall, I found Vodafone to be a big, self-centred organisation with a surprising lack of common courtesy coupled with a disregard for professionalism in recruitment. Given their lack of care or attention in the way of relationship management, I will avoid this organisation both professionally and personally going forward.

Thank you for your feedback and I am really sorry that this was your experience. Its not what we are striving for and having spent a lot of time trying to improve the experience our candidates receive. We take feedback very seriously and act upon all comments we can. Whilst we are pleased you have left us feedback I welcome further feedback so we can look into this further. Please email me at nick.thompson@vodafone.com so I can investigate this further.
