I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Uber (Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta) in Jan 2017
Interview
I applied online, then I was given an xls (Excel) file that contains data. This file served as a data source for an analytic test. Once you click the address that is sent to your email, you are forwarded to a website where you will have to complete an analytic test. Complete the test using the attached excel file as data source. You are given 2 hours to complete.
To be honest it's not very difficult, but I was not used to using Excel's Pivot Table, thus I ended up wasting too much time by going the old way. So make sure you master Pivot Table first before applying!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The analytic test covers questions regarding Uber's statistic and real-life scenario: what day is the busiest, how much would a driver earn in first year after switching to more 'elite' service with a new car; and also questions about social and operational readiness: how would you write a letter to drivers in case of something happening, etc. So not everything is about numbers. Very awesome.
I applied online. I interviewed at Uber (New York, NY) in Jan 2017
Interview
Overly long, felt exploitative... as others have mentioned, they expect you to put in MANY hours of work for the interview process and then don't really give you an answer when you ask for feedback why they "have gone in another direction", when clearly they are hiring tons of people in this role. Let's face it, having Uber on your resume doesn't mean what it used to, given their recent PR crises, and the arrogance of the interviewing team suggests that they are not yet aware of this reality. Plus, the salary is so far below market rate (they told me around $80K) that the fact they expect to recruit management consultants and i-bankers for this role shows how out of touch Uber is with the reality of the job market. Trust me, take your time and attention elsewhere - taking a job here would be like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Round 1. Why Uber?
Round 2. Excel test - not too hard, brush up on your pivot tables
Round 3. Call with recruiter, essentially step 1 repeated again
Round 4. Call with hiring manager, I'd suggest having opinions on Uber's business model
Round 5. Many hours of interviews and case studies... They'll expect you to dedicate a full-time workload to this interview. In my experience, at least, they promised to get back with an answer within a week and it took MANY emails back and forth to get a response. Lazy? Arrogant? Who knows - just make sure to tread with caution before you commit yourself to this mind-numbing gauntlet.
