The position I interviewed for was Operations Intern. I'm writing a long and detailed review to give back to the Glassdoor community!
I applied online, after seeing the job posting on LinkedIn. Got contacted 2 days after application.
First step is a call with a recruiter to assess your motivation (Why Uber? Why this role?) and general fit (Tell me about yourself). Nothing to worry about here!
Step 2 is an online assessment. They give you an Excel file with data on metrics for different (fictional) cities and you have to prepare a presentation after analyzing the numbers. You have 3 days to complete it.
It is not too hard but it does require a good understanding of Uber's business and some familiarity with metrics. Notice that spending some time studying for the assessment will help you in the following interviews!
Differently from what I read about the assessments for more senior roles, only basic Excel skills were needed.
Lastly, I got an invitation to 2x45 minutes interviews (online).
Forget about "Tell me about a time..." questions. They ask you about Uber's business model, ask some case-like questions to see how you reason. Both interviewers were extremely nice and informal.
The second interview was more like a guided case, very specific to the role: again reasoning about metrics, operations...
Overall I felt like the interviews were hard but fair (and fun!). You should be well prepared and think on your feet.
I received feedback just 3 days after the interview.
