      Frontend Engineer Interview

      Feb 10, 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Typeform in Dec 2020

      Interview

The interview had 5 steps and I was attended by a recruiter during the whole process: 1. Video call with the recruiter to get to know each other and go through my previous experience in other jobs, etc. 2. Online test with three parts that took 1 hour approx. Each part has an algorithm to solve, the first two parts can be done quite fast, the third one is a little more complicated. I would recommend practicing with some algorithms before doing this test. 3. A 1to1 meeting with a team lead to have a chat about your experience and get some insights from both parts. 4. A live technical test with two team leads in which I was asked for adding features to a react app. It was nothing too crazy: handling events, controlling state, adding some CSS, etc. 5. Four referrals from coworkers, preferably two managers and two colleagues.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Typeform in Jun 2021

      Interview

I went through a 4 step process. The communication was excellent throughout. I got sent details about what the expect from each interview. I got given feedback at every step and usually received that on the same day I had my interview. The first interview was a 30 min conversation with Margaret who is a Tech Recruiter to go through previous experience, skills, what I'm looking for and salary expectations. The second step was a 1 hour meeting with 2 Typeformers to go through a technical approach for a design system. I thought this was a really interesting interview which allowed they to see more than just technical skill but also the ability to communicate and problem solve. At this stage I also realised that I'd be able to learn a lot at Typeform. The third was a 90 minute live coding challenge, again with 2 Typeformers. I personally don't think live coding is a way where I can really excel and show my skill level but Pablo and Jess made me feel comfortable and were really helpful. And the final interview was a behavioural one with the Jorge, Director of Software Engineering. I can definitely recommend really preparing for this interview based on the information you get sent before. I thought Jorge was really great at interviewing and playing back anything I said to make sure he understood.
