      Account Manager Interview

      Aug 20, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tripadvisor (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2019

      Interview

First contact was the phone screen; next step was video interview. A couple of days after the video interview I received an email stating they were excited to bring me in for an onsite interview, and to send them my availability for the following week. Days later I did not hear back, so I followed up. The recruiter advised that on-site interviews had been placed on a one to two week hold because the interview panel was having challenges with coordinating their schedules. That seemed odd, but I remained optimistic and believed there was nothing to be concerned about. When the two week period passed, I reached out to the recruiter to touch base. It took another five days just to a get a response stating that the hiring manager decided to bring in other candidates that had more experience in digital media. I was in total disbelief! How could you extend an invite for an onsite interview, then rescind it weeks later?? The recruiter encouraged me to apply for other positions and to contact her with any interests. I politely declined. Any company that doesn't treat candidates with common courtesy does not deserve what I bring to the table. TripAdvisor is very disorganized, unprofessional, and inconsiderate of your time. Thank God this did not work out.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us- we’re sorry to hear about your negative experience. Midway through the process, the position specifications changed, requiring a different skillset for the position, and follow up communications were delayed due to summer holidays. While these factors don’t change your experience, we’re hoping that it provides a bit of context. We strive to ensure that each candidate is treated respectfully throughout the process, and we are disappointed to hear that this was not the case in your experience. We will use the notes you left to continuously improve our process, and if you’d like to discuss anything further, please feel free to reach out.
