I applied online. I interviewed at TikTok (Mountain View, CA) in Feb 2021
Interview
Applied online on Thursday. Was sent an email on Friday scheduling a video call for the next week. Was sent another email at 6:30 pm on Friday night saying I had 24 hours (!) to complete a 2-hour HackerRank online assessment consisting of 4 questions.
Sending out a 2-hour online assessment on Friday night that needs to be completed by Saturday night is incredibly disrespectful of a candidate's time.
I declined to take the online assessment figuring that if they are this demanding of the time of prospective employees, they would likely be much worse to an actual employee.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. Respecting the time and efforts of all our candidates is our top priority, so we apologize that your experience did not meet our standards. Please know that we have relayed your feedback to HR and will make sure candidates are given adequate time to prepare and complete tasks going forward. We hope you will still consider other roles at TikTok that may interest you, and wish you the best with your job search!
I applied online. I interviewed at TikTok (San Jose, CA) in Dec 2020
Interview
Started with an OA, then potentially 3" phone interviews", I believe they were done over codesignal, (dependent on passing each one) with engineers. I only got to the first phone interview. It was around 10pm for me, as the interviewer was located in China. Additionally, the interviewer didn't speak perfect English, so it was a little hard to communicate at times.
