The process took 2 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot in Jan 2010
Interview
Applied with the company through their website in October for the Area Supervisor postion. Finally recieved call back from corporate on December 28 and had phone interview on January 2. Phone interview went well and recruiter seemed impressed with me.I was told he would be back in touch to plan on-site interview. He sent me an email the next day with an itenerary. On the day of the interview I arrived and was interviewed by 2 Assistant General Managers...intereviews went VERY well. The younger of the two AGMs wanted me to call the other one "grandpa" when I walked into our interview...I did...and well, the next day I recieved a call from corporate offering me the position.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (New York, NY) in Nov 2010
Interview
Interview process started with a test of retail knowledge - operations, profit & loss, balance sheets, customer service related questions. Test took 3 hours. Next was an interview with the district manager and human resourse manager. Questions asked were what if questions and tell me about a time when questions. All of which leads to the conclusion that whoever is the best at story telling gets the job. This was proven to be true when the subsequent batch of new assistant managers hit the stores. An awful lot of people very full of themselves and how great they are. Didn't matter if they knew anything as long as they could talk like they do. Which doesn't help associates or customers one bit.
