I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesco (Durham, England) in Jan 2020
Interview
The website for finding vacancies was very easy to use and it highlighted the exact hours and shift patterns for each role. I filled out the application questions and was asked to come into the store for a face to face interview with a manager. About a week later I received an offer.

Question 1
Give an example of a time you delivered great customer service
I applied for a shop assistant role at Tesco online, filling in my details and availability. After a few days, I was invited to an interview, which took place in-store. The interviewer asked me questions about customer service, teamwork, and how I would handle busy situations or difficult customers. I gave examples from my past experiences to show my communication skills and reliability. The interview felt relaxed and conversational rather than formal. I was also asked about my flexibility with shifts. Overall, the process was straightforward, and I heard back within about a week with the outcome.
First call with employer then an in person interview where they asked you a few questions about previous experience, your key professional qualities and what you can bring to the role.
