Produktionsleiter / Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung Interview

      May 7, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Pekín, Pekín
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tesco (Pekín, Pekín) in Apr 2013

      Interview

It took them 2 weeks to respond to my initial online application by email, which asks me to attend a written test in a near-by city in China (I live in Beijing). I got there and was shocked by the amount of people doing the test. there were approximately 500 people!!!!! Prior to the test, a HR lady did a presentation on Tesco. Then, we were asked to do to an exam room where everyone had to take the written test without the light on (It was quiet dark in that room). The most surprising bit was that we had to do the test on my laps, there were no tables in the room!!!!!! This was simply unacceptable!!!!! The tests are in English, and are divided into three parts: 1. loads of single choice questions on general knowledge about Tesco: who is our CEO? how many stores do we operate around the world? and in which country? etc. 2. numerical test: I dont recall all the questions but they seem to be directly related to the job since all questions are on the topic of profit margin, discount etc. 3. Reading comprehension: they are all 'Yes', 'No' and 'Not Given' type of questions, similar to GMAT. I am sure I have not passed the tests which was taken 3 weeks from now coz I heard from people who did it before that the company would never get back to you if you did not get through.
