The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target in May 2009
Interview
I filled out a somewhat tedious application on a computer and waited. I was contacted shortly after and invited for an in-person interview in a small room above the store. It was a standard corporate/retail experience. It seemed like basic evaluation of my competence and communication skills. I was questioned about my work experience and education background, and asked standard interview questions, like: "What is your biggest weakness?" etc.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target (Winston-Salem, NC) in Oct 2009

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target (Colorado Springs, CO) in May 2009
Interview
One person from the service desk interviewed me, one manager interveiwed me. I actually first applied in December 2008. It was my first interview and I had no job experience. They asked me questions like, "Tell me about a time you had to finsih a task and it didn't go as planned. What did you do to solve the problem?" I went blank. Didn't get the job, needless to say.
In May 2009, I re-applied, this time with job experience under my belt and a memory for those deer-in-the-headlights questions and adequate preparation. :-}
In short: Be prepared and tay on your guard.
