Interview
I applied online, and they have you do a "virtual try out" online where you answer questions involving sales, and P&L. About 1 week after filling that out, I was called by a HR recruiter and set up a phone interview which lasted about 30 mins of behavioral questions (tell me about a time....) and 15 mins of laying out the job and about the company. I then interviewed with 2 DM's who also asked all behavioral questions, they want very specific examples but I found them pretty common and easy questions. I was told I would hear back in about a week either way, but ended up getting a call the very next day with an offer. Everyone that I was in contact with was very friendly.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks in May 2012
Interview
I applied on-line using a posting from my university and received a call from a recruiter the next day. We did a very short pre-screening (use this time to make a little conversation and demonstrate that you are a people-person) and we setup a phone interview 2 days later. The phone interviews consisted of 4-5 situational questions, make sure that you elaborate and use examples, (not difficult questions if you have had any work/school history.) After the interview, I was scheduled to meet with the DM a week later. That was the best interview I've ever had! We sat and talked for about 45min. The DM was extremely personable, he told his story and I was asked only about 4 questions. For this interview you really need to go in imagining that you already have the job and make sure that you demonstrate the passion that you have for people and community. Check out the website before your interview, know why you want to work for SBUX and be prepared to smile and laugh a lot. Don't forget to accept the free coffee that they offer you! The background screening took about a week. I got a call as soon as it was done and accepted the offer. All-in-all the process took a little over 2 weeks and I got to pick when my first day would be. Best wishes to you!

Interview
email from recruiter, then interviewed with 2 district managers, was asked basic questions of past experiences handling both employees and customers in difficult situations, looking for real life examples not hypothetical answers. district managers seemed to be looking for a person oriented to and interested in the operations side of retail, a person looking to grow their career in operations management. looking for candidate with experience in managing a team of employees and experience in providing excellent customer service. it is a good idea to come up with specific examples of problems you have encountered at work and how you solved the problem.
