I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Pearson
Interview
The online application consists of open ended questions to describe your background and experience. It can take longer than an hour to complete the application. Pearson HR was very quick to respond, all done through email. When you are offered a position, it is for a specific project that may last one-two weeks to a couple of months. There will be multiple projects to work (each getting their own job offer) during the scoring season starting at the beginning of the year through early summer.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Pearson (Jacksonville, FL) in Feb 2014
Interview
I filled out an application online through some kind of job bulletin board, and it seems like it went into a black hole. Then I went to an open house in person and they asked me to fill out another application. No big deal, but I'm glad I went in person. Definitely go in person. After a few hours of paperwork I had a job offer contingent upon my successfully getting through the training and qualifying process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There were no difficult questions. I think they just wanted to be sure I was reasonably well-dressed, articulate, and actually had a college degree.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Pearson (Naperville, IL) in Jun 2014
Interview
The interview process involved answering a series of questions online. The process was straight forward. You will receive an email with further instructions about the location and duration of the project. You will have to past a series of tests to determine weather you will qualify for a project. Once I was hired, I was ready to work on a project. The projects involve scoring and client information is kept confidential. You will have to sign a contract stating that you will not talk about the projects. No notebooks, recorders, etc. are allowed on the scoring floor.
