I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Pearson (Rogers, AR) in Apr 2016
Interview
The initial interview process was conducted "digitally" online, basically a video recording of my answers with no human contact from the other side. It felt very awkward and cold to not have any kind of voice or facial queues from a warm human being. If one passes the digital interview, a phone or in-person interview would be the next step. The awkwardness of the digital interview likely eliminates a huge amount of applicants from the very beginning and quite unfairly, I believe.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Describe how you would handle a stressful office situation (prioritization skills) such as this: You're on the phone with a difficult customer who is becoming more and more irrate, a UPS driver is standing at your desk needing signature of multiple packages that you need to review for damages before accepting delivery, and a family walks in for an appointed meeting.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Pearson (San Francisco, CA) in May 2012
Interview
Met with an HR rep. who was unprepared for the interview and did not actually interview me. They basically wasted my time.
I walked in and she said,"I am not your typical HR rep. I don't like to ask about strengths and weaknesses or to tell me about your past. So, I would like you to ask me questions instead."
I did my best to conduct the interview for her, even though the position I was interviewing for was an entry level, low paying publishing job.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Pearson (Don Mills, ON)
Interview
I interviewed with HR through a head hunting agency. It went very well. The interview we was kind, sincere and thorough (no longer with the company). I later interviewed with the director who eventually hired me, and they hired me later that day. Noting that the director is no longer with the company.
