I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Meta (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2022
Interview
I was surprised to have a recruiter reach out to me out of the blue based on a resume I had submitted almost 18-20 months prior.
That said, I was interested in taking the interview because the parental leave benefits are far and away the best in the US.
That said, I was given a screening interview with the recruiter and then onto the first round interview with an individual who was already in the position I was interviewing for.
My first impression was that they were not very experienced as an interviewer and as a person around ~5 years more junior than me did not have an appreciation for the achievements I have had in my career. They were looking for specific key words as opposed to understanding the depth and breadth of professional accomplishments.
And honestly, I dont think I have ever interviewed with a company that has more ego than Facebook. I had actually interviewed several years prior and had the same feeling. They were condescending and asked me multiple times "what great things about Facebook/Meta make you want to work here". And it was like...well first of all your recruiter reached out to me - I didn't actually apply to this position.
And given the fact that I know one person who blantly lied on their resume (saying they had worked at a big 4 for 3 years - which they never worked even 1 single day for that company) to get a Director role and another individual who was in a performance improvement plan in my previous company, I strongly question Meta's ability to see through BS and find strong candidates.

Interview
6 rounds of interviews - product sense, execution sense, leadership
Interview format is well described in the prep materials they provide.
They mostly expect a structured approach and intuitive decision making.

It was a smooth process overall. Had a helpful recruiter, but unfortunately finished my process right after the hiring freeze was announced. Positive experience overall; I did not end up with an offer.
