I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Palo Alto, CA) in Sep 2012
Interview
2nd round interview at Silicon Valley office. The office looks like a typical Cali- 2 storey building, less impressive than its Los Angeles office. The interview is composed of two 50mins interviews with two associates (all with PhD background, ~2years of experience). All interviewers are well trained so they tend to explain everything before you go deep into the behavior part and case solving part.

Question 1
They are very very structured in the way they bring up behavior questions - they want all the details.
One interviewer is pretty cool. You can't read anything from his poker face.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Gurgaon, Haryana)
Interview
The selection process is rigorous and highly competitive, involving multiple rounds of case interviews along with a personality assessment. Candidates are evaluated not only on their problem-solving and analytical abilities but also on their communication, leadership potential, and overall fit with the organization’s values and culture. The process is designed to identify high achievers who have demonstrated consistent excellence throughout their academic and professional journeys, maintaining strong performance over time rather than relying on isolated accomplishments.”
The interview is structured exactly as the preparation materials describe, i.e. personal fit and case. All interviewers were friendly and supportive. After each interview round I received helpful feedback. The cases are not easy but fair.

Questions regarding the case. Interviewer will led the case though
First, there is a computer test screening. Then, you get invited for the first round interview, usually conducted by an AP. Then, for second round, you have two interviews with Partners. You get feedback quickly, less than a week between interview and feedback
