I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Bloomingdale, IL) in Nov 2009
Interview
I was interviewed by one of the department managers instead of the HR manager. I had been called for the interview after submitting an online application. In the application, I indicated I was unavailable to work on Sunday. My interview consisted of being asked if I could work on Sunday, to which I replied no. I was told if I didn't have completely unobstructed availability, I could not be hired. I asked if it was possible to work some, but not all Sundays as I could try to work around a portion of my Sunday commitments. I was told absolutely not. End of interview. If that was the criteria, why was I called for the interview in the first place?

Made us perform skits, it was a fairly easy process but some people were very nervous. Not difficult at all, we just had to pretend to be sales associates and potential customers. I had to help someone find some jewelry.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's in Nov 2009
Interview
The interview consisted of two 1-on-1 interviews. The first was mostly looking at soft skills-- behavorial questions and fit questions. The second interview was much more technical, assessing management skills.
Everyone I encountered was extremely nice, but they're definitely looking for a specific kind of person-- someone interested in fashion and merchandising, less focus was on management.
