Interview
My appointment was supposed to be at 1:45. I arrived at 1:30 and they literally didn't start my interview until 2:45. I thought it was some kind of test or joke to see how long I would wait/how much I really wanted the job. When a girl finally came to get me, she apologized and said that there was miscommunication & that she thought someone else was going to do my interview. I was only actually in the interview for 5-10 minutes. She asked some questions, and then told me that she was going to be honest- the position that I was applying for was closed and they had already chosen someone else. A big waste of my time... Not to mention my $5 parking, gas, and 3 hours total in traffic.

Interview
I applied online and received an email to schedule an interview. I got to the interview 15 minutes early and the manager thanked me for that. He apologized for having to write notes while I was answering his questions.
Whatever you do, do not ask if there is a sink to wash your hands before/after touching customers, I did, and he did not like that, his face went dark and he said we use hand sanitizers.

Interview
Process
-Scheduling of the interview was easy, done online. You complete the online application (and very long screening test), then schedule your in-person interview online. After that you will have a second interview, and a phone screening asking for specific examples of your behavior in different situations.
In-Person Interview
-Interviewer was nice, easy going. Interview took place in a office that was mostly storage, which was a little weird.
-I didn't have previous retail experience but had experience that could easily be transferred to sales.
-I was also familiar with some of the cosmetics counters as I occasionally buy from 2 of the brands sold at Macy's.
-Learned that associates must wear a full face of the makeup brand that they are representing.
-You may be asked to "sell" a product during the interview.
Follow Up
-I was told I had a second interview, but missed the call to schedule and then could not get back in touch with that person. This happened to me 2 years before also (in that case, I had someone call and tell me to come in the next day for the second interview, which I couldn't because of my job at the time). I've heard this is a common problem with Macy's so something to be aware of. I ended up pursuing a different job intead because of that.
