I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at IKEA (Montreal, QC) in Apr 2017
Interview
Got an Invitation for an interview, spoke with a Manager, very nice, explained that Ikea Montreal is Unionized and can only offer me part time 20 hours min Guaranty/week
Got invited to a second group interview, weak exercises, little interaction, and questions were not organized.
Got invited to a private interview for sales in the Kitchen department, I was looking forward to it, very easy since I have over 20 years of sales/customer service experience! and I am a certified professional cook.
Got offer a part-time position, no guaranty of min 20 hours a week, barely a few dollars over minimum wage with no salary increase for the next 18 month and no guaranty of getting a full-time position.
Obviously, I cannot survive with this offer ( pay rent, the bills and to feed myself ) so I declined the offer, I feel that I was discriminated because of my age and experience.
Very disappointed with this experience, I expected more from Ikea, some manager were excellent, other were weak.
Cannot believe that with my experience there isn't a position that I cannot do in general with a decent salary, how can Ikea expect to find some serious employees when they cannot offer a serious career position with decent salary.
The typical corporate prison that is offering low salary wage for immigrants type employee to maximizes Ikea profit revenue.
