Getting hired from the outside into IBM can be hard. IBM only hires from the outside to fulfill very specific jobs. The hiring process can be long and cumbersome as your resume is reviewed and approved by HR and then sent on the hiring manager. I was interviewed by HR and then had a short interview by the hiring manager. I was then brought in for an on site interview with 6 back to back interviews in one morning session. One of those interviews had 3 of my would be peers interviewing me. It was a bit intense but I got an offer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The toughest question that I had was from the Vice President who was leaving his job at IBM on the day of my interview. He wanted to know why I was joining such a large company, he was leaving to go to a smaller, start-up. This was a bit delicate because I did not want to offend him but I was coming from a start-up and I was looking for something more stable.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at IBM (São Paulo, ) in Apr 2009
