I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Halliburton (Midland, TX) in Nov 2010
Interview
I applied on the Halliburton website. The hiring manager for the engineering department contacted me based on previous job experience. I had an initial interview on the phone and then an onsite visit to make sure that it was the kind of job I wanted. It was extremely straightforward. On the other hand, the actual hiring process was extremely convoluted and confusing. Expect to never know what you're supposed to do next until someone calls you and tells you to immediately go do something.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Halliburton (Brighton, CO) in Dec 2012
Interview
First evening was a presentation overview of the different PSL's followed by an informal dinner with all the other candidates. Next morning we met in the hotel lobby at 5:30 a.m. to go out to a frac job for most of the day. Toured the job site and went over all of the necessary equipment and processes for the job. Safety was stressed the whole time. After the frac job we went to lunch and then back to the main Halliburton facilities. We were showed around the building and then the labs. After this, the interviews commenced.
