I send the application online and received an email from HR about three months later. They arranged three to four phone interviews. Each interview is about a fortnight away from the other. After all the interviews they told me that the recruitment committee will evaluate my performances. Then I wait for about two weeks before getting the offer. I think the number of interviews they arranged for you depends on your performances.

Two technical phone screens to assess problem-solving ability, host-matching telephone call was done after to match applicants with a suitable team at Google. Interviewers were very nice and helpful, questions were encouraged to be asked. Freedom of choice of programming languages but focus on Java, C++ or Python.
