I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at FedEx (San Diego, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
Simply attend a sort meeting at 5 in the morning, sign up on an applicant clipboard at the end of it in the office and wait for them to call you in to fill out the application on their office computers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questionnaire mainly asked about your legal status for working in the U.S. but also asked simple questions about how you could handle the job functions around the dock: i.e., ability to lift heavy objects, use pallet jacks, follow safety rules, clearly read and understand charts, labels, scanners, and whatever else we used.
Mostly based off work history. They seem felon friendly. I do not have a criminal history. Personality test not difficult. They responded within 4 weeks. Haven't been there physically or meant face to face.
Super easy process—mostly online application with basic questions about availability, ability to lift 50-70 lbs, and fast-paced work. No tough interview; quick hire after background check. Positive and straightforward. Definitely worth it.
