I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Fastenal
Interview
Interviewing here is pretty laid back. It is usually 2-3 stages. First, you will probably meet with the district manager in the area you are applying for. If he likes you, he'll probably have you do another interview with another district manager who manages another district in the area. Finally, if he likes you as well, they will have you interview with the general manager of the store you would be working at. This is important because each store typically only has 3 employees. That would be the general manager of the store (That basically does the same exact thing as the Outside Sales), then you have the Outside Sales position, and then there is usually a part timer who just does the grunge work.
During the interview with the District Managers put on more of your "Professional" attitude. If you make it to the general manager interview it is usually really laid back. The general manager is usually a guy in his mid 20's who is usually pretty cool. Honestly, I don't think they even care about the "Typical" interview questions. They basically just want to get a feel for you and see if they can actually work with you and see your face everyday. Because it is basically you and him that will be running the whole store. Be cool and laid back....Just talk with them. Basically, all you need to do is have them like you and prove that you are just not a complete moron. Get along with them and show that you have maybe just more then one brain cell in your head and you will most likely get the job.
