I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Elsevier (Medway, OH) in Mar 2014
Interview
Apparently it is a new trend in this area to give an "IQ test" type assessment. I was told I needed to take an online "programmer assessment test," being told nothing about the test, and was stunned to find not a single question related to programming on the test. Instead the test involved pattern matching, word analogies, poetry interpretation, and math problems up to the algebra level. I thought I might have gotten the wrong test, and then I decided it was a "trick" test of some type and they wanted feedback on the test, which I gave. Contacted the next day that I would not be considered further, I guess I was mistaken. I've since had another of these types of test, so perhaps it's becoming commonplace. It didn't test programmer ability in any way whatsoever.

I applied online. I interviewed at Elsevier (San Diego, CA)
Interview
I applied online, was called to set up an in person interview, interviewed in the San Diego office, and then had multiple phone interviews with editors from all over the world.

Question 1
What do you do when you're under a lot of pressure or stress?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Elsevier (Atlanta, GA) in Oct 2017
Interview
Received call from HR requesting phone interview. Provided dates and interview confirmed. Did not receive call from Talent Acquisition Manager, followed up via call and email. Received return email stating an emergency occurred and apologized for delay in responding. Phone interview rescheduled and completed with Talent Acquisition Manager. Told the salary (really low) and then informed if manager approved salary range and in person interview, I would receive follow up email. Received follow up email informing me to select a date/time for in person. Completed email, but never heard anything back. No call or email correspondence. Roughly 3 months later, received automatic reject email that job was filled and no longer vacant. Disappointed in interview process as I felt as though I was chasing TA Manager down for missed phone interview and in person interview follow up.
