The interview for [HCMC, VIETNAM] 2020 Summer Internship at Deloitte made me feel unappreciated in many aspects. First of all, it was supposed to be 20 minutes but for my case, it was only 8 minutes via Skype because the interviewer- Senior Recruiter (I do not want to mention name here) only asked me 4 questions (in Vietnamese, of course) including: (1) What do you think about the position? (2) What is your availability? (3) Do you mind to travel? (4) What if this is an unpaid internship, what do you think?. Secondly, it was fine for me with these questions until she explained this program is merely for 'branding' for Deloitte (She literally said that to me, using 'branding' in English) because she said Deloitte thinks international students (students study abroad like me) will not stay at the company long enough. At the end, however, she said that the result will not reflect my ability, which turned out was a good thing at least she said.
I was so disappointed because the interview process was far below what I expected from an international company like Deloitte. However, I will not use just one bad experience to generalize everyone or the process in general. I just want they to improve and show respect to candidates, who might be their potential employees.
Please note that I was confident yet humble during the interview. It just feel, again I assume like she already has a bias because I used to work for Grant Thornton as Advisory Services Intern so it will go against the 'branding' purpose of the whole program since they are competitors.
