The hiring process at Databricks takes an average of 60 days when considering 2 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Big Data Architect had the quickest hiring process (on average 60 days), whereas Big Data Architect roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 60 days).
HM interview, panel presentation with directors and staff engs, and then several rounds of technical competency and architecture. It was well organized but a little stiff. They encourage you to have other offers and prefer candidates who are still in their current roles.
- Very very biased process. I got dinged in one round in ML case study (the same question I have passed in 5 other places). The difference here: the dude taking the interview isn't interested in you at all. They have their eyes in glued to their laptop throughout the period. Occasionally come to life really when you prod them specifically on what they are looking for. I intentionally said a couple of things wrong to see if there is at least a bit of a reaction.
- Recruiter doesn't care about this feedback either. Too many fish in the sea unfortunately.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Databricks (Bengaluru) in Jun 2025
Interview
I recently went through three technical interview rounds with Databricks for Salesforce SSE role.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The technical panel did not demonstrate a clear understanding of the role or the evaluation criteria, which led to an interview process that felt inconsistent and unstructured. It was unclear what they were looking for in a candidate, and the interviewers themselves seemed uncertain about the requirements.
Overall, the process felt like a poor use of time, and I hope Databricks takes steps to improve the clarity and quality of their technical assessments.
