I went through seven interviews and was told to prepare for what appeared to be the final round — a 60-minute presentation to be delivered to a group of executives I had already met. They originally scheduled the presentation over three weeks out, which seemed excessive, but when I asked about the timing, they moved it up to just over a week away.
I spent that week diligently preparing the presentation. Then, just two days before the scheduled session, I was informed that due to a “shift in focus” from leadership, I was no longer being considered.
After investing weeks into the process and being asked to prepare for what was positioned as the final step, pulling the plug last minute was incredibly disrespectful. If this is how they treat candidates, I can only imagine how they treat employees. It’s a very bad look for the company — likely a reflection of poor leadership and a top-down cultural issue, possibly stemming from the VP of Sales at CME.
