I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Crypto.com in Mar 2022
Interview
- HR screening
- Tech team interview
- Take home code challenge
- Pair programming
- HR followups
I think the review is basically the same as other engineering reviews, you will find the whole process is disastrous if you are from a US background. This is the first time I've interviewed in an APAC crypto company. Basically, you will know if those interviewers came in prepared or not but they obviously didn't.
They simply asked questions that are too general and they didn't bother to describe the details or problems. For example, they'll ask you things like "Do you know Docker?" or "How well do you know Database?". Those questions cover many facets of the detailed explanations to be elaborated in many smaller topics but they seemed to just stay silent like you have no idea if they know what they're asking. And also not really trying to engage you with them in a tech conversation.
Also, HR is very impolite to ask you about the salary of your current job. Not really sure if that's common in the Asia region or if it's just a certain HRs are being disrespectful.

Question 1
- Past experiences
- Do you know Docker?
- How well do you know about security?
The interview process started with an initial HR screening, followed by a take-home homework assignment. After submitting the assignment, I had a technical interview with an engineer to walk through my solution and discuss technical details. Next was an interview with the hiring manager, and the process concluded with an offer.

For system design questions, they may ask about concepts such as event sourcing and domain-driven design.

Overall Experience & Process Integrity 😠
The entire hiring process took approximately one to two months.
I applied for a Senior Ruby on Rails position despite having no prior career experience in the crypto field. I was upfront about this from the very beginning of the interview process and was assured it would not be a deal-breaker.
Funnily enough, after completing all rounds of their hiring process—with the final meeting being strictly for cultural fit—I was rejected. The reason provided was that they were ultimately looking for a candidate with more crypto experience.
It makes absolutely no sense that I would pass the initial HR screening, two technical rounds (one assessment and one discussion with team members), proceed to a cultural fit interview, and then be rejected for a lack of experience. Given that the technical interviews didn't even heavily focus on crypto knowledge, what was the point of the extensive process? The inconsistency suggests a serious lack of structural integrity in their hiring approach.
Concerns About Professionalism and Stability 🚩
Throughout the interview process, I was wary of the numerous negative reviews citing bad management and a toxic work culture. I can unfortunately attest to the lack of professionalism, as my interview experience alone demonstrated no clear structure or integrity in the process.
Furthermore, I was told by the Senior VP that the company drops the bottom X% of performers every quarter. If you are looking for stability, you should absolutely stay away from this company. Huge red flag!
