I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Collins Aerospace in Dec 2020
Interview
I applied online and was invited to conduct a one-way interview via Hirevue.
Despite my reluctance to participate in a one-sided and totally impersonal process, I went ahead and conducted the interview for the experience. That will definitely be my first and last time.
A few days later, I received an automatic rejection email. Given the effort expended on my part, it is truly disappointing that a recruiter could not be bothered to personally send the rejection.
Companies need to rethink the use of one-way interviews. The candidate is unable to build any rapport with the recruiter, ask questions or get any additional details about the role, before being judged. This smacks of laziness and total incompetence in recruiting.
For such a large company, you would think that a capable recruiter would be able to phone screen the most qualified candidates. You know, like most other companies manage to do without too much trouble.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
10 multiple choice, followed by 5 narrative questions. You are given 30 seconds to read each question before the recording begins. You have either 2 or 3 minutes to respond, depending on the question.
