I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cognizant
Interview
Simple process. Took one day. Aptitude test of moderate difficulty but short on time. Easy interview questions on basic HR and communication. Little technical knowledge of own subject could be asked.
Initially there was an aptitude test, after which around half of them were shortlisted. Further, the company officials split the shortlisted candidates into groups of 4, each consisting around 10 candidates and one by one the candidates were interviewed. My interview was not quite detailed, as in the interviewer started with questions related to my education and the projects I had worked on during my Bachelors', after which he asked the standard question as to why do I want to work for this company. The decision was conveyed to me within 2 weeks of the interview.

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cognizant (Calcuta) in Oct 2013
Interview
Cognizant shortlisted my name by looking through my AMCAT scorecard, an exam which my college conducted in February 2013. In October of that year, I got a mail from both AMCAT and Cognizant that I have been shortlisted for Technical and HR interviews and I have to report on the specified date. So I went to Cognizant GTP office in Bantala, Kolkata. There I saw many people who came for the interview. After conducting initial verifications I was called for my technical interview. The interviewer asked me questions about my final year project in college, the industrial visit conducted by my college and my industrial training. As I was from a non-IT background, I told him that I have a very limited knowledge of C and no other language. So he skipped asking any question related to programming. I told him that I know MS Excel and Word. So I told him about that. After this interview I was called for HR interview. There the interviewer asked about my hobbies and my personality and I was done for the day. After 3 days I got mail that I have been selected for the job.
