I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Jersey City, NJ) in Nov 2024
Interview
1. skill assessment - mostly sql, statistics based. 70 mins to solve 15 questions. try to get around 5-6 right as they are difficult.
2. Data challenge - 10 days to complete a data challenge based on airline dataset. Did all the work as asked and i knew my solution was correct still got rejected and there was no feedback. I invested almost 10 full days of my crucial time in it and got rejected without feedback. worst part of the recruitment process. when asked abt feedback or reason they said they can't disclose due to risk purposes.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Sep 2024
Interview
Awful experience. The process was one month long, time consuming and exhausting. The standard pattern as every other interview.
Online assessment, call with recruiter, 10 day data challenge, powerday with 2 cases, 1 behavioral and 1 data challenge interview. The data challenge was a very unnecessary step in the process and it already has existing github solutions for anyone interested. The cases were math heavy. They tell you to prepare from their YouTube videos but they are bogus and nothing like in the real interview. Don’t waste your time with business questions. The cases are all about asking twisted math questions, after they throw a lot of information at you.Having one case makes sense. Two were simply unnecessary. The behavior round is just a formality and a waste of time as well.
Lastly the data challenge round was the most horrible one of all and by far the interviewer for this round was the worst one i ever interviewed with, ever. It felt more like an interrogation than an interview, with the interviewer rudely questioning every assumption i made. She wasn’t convinced until i agreed with her way of thinking and it was almost as if she was yelling at me for making my assumptions. Capital one really needs to evaluate the interviewers/managers that are conducting these interviews.
Overall it was a horrible, time consuming, process and all of that for an analyst role at a mediocre bank company.
The only good part about the whole process was the recruiter who gave quick feedback after every step.

Question 1
Case study on a Software development company looking for a new contract.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Washington, DC) in Jun 2024
Interview
The interview process consists of an initial phone screening, followed by a code assessment, then a take-home project. The recruiter was regularly in contact throughout the initial stages of the process.
C1 request candidates to complete a time-intensive project that takes well over 20 hours (even though they insist it takes only 8). Key details are omitted, with the expectation that the candidate will have to make assumptions in their analysis. However, the data provided is intentionally vague, making every decision the candidate makes feel questionable. The project sets the candidate up for failure right off the bat and is a dismal approach to recruiting talent.
Given the low pay range for the role compared to the rest of the market, it feels like C1 is looking for top-tier talent at a fraction of the price.
