I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2024
Interview
CIBC relies on skills tests to determine suitability for a technical candidate. While common practice, this is the red flag. Candidates with lots of experience will not like to be treated the same way as juniors coming fresh off University.
CIBC did not talk to me until I passed their online skills test, not even a courtesy "hello" type of call. This is the second red flag.
After passing their skills test, I had a video call with their recruiter, followed by another video call with the hiring manager. They all had the video feed off but required me to have mine on. This is the 3rd red flag, as I consider it lack of respect and professional courtesy.
After all the interviews I was ghosted. Completely. This is another red flag that I have for CIBC.
Lastly, what transpired from the interviews was that their salary bands and benefits sit below what other banks offer, except for their defined benefit pension (which is only good for younger people who spend a lot of time at CIBC). This is the last red flag.

Question 1
A mix of technical and behavioral questions, all specific to the job.
Great, it was not bad, and it was ok and it was not bad and it was easy and it was hard and yeah it was ok overall and it was kind of hard but that is to be expected
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2024
Interview
The people contacting me were nice but very unprofessional. instead of emailing me to set up a time to call, they were calling me at all hours of the day which I was not expecting and missed their calls. When I would miss their calls they would text me which I thought was strange considering they had my email. I texted back sharing my availability to call which they didn't reply to and proceeded to keep calling me including once at 7pm on a Friday. Once they finally called me at a time I was free I picked up and they set up a time to do an excel assessment. I did the assessment over a Microsoft teams and submitted to them through email. this was almost a month ago and never heard back not even rejection. I emailed to follow back and still no reply. If you are going to move someone to the next stage of the interview process I think its good practice to let them know at least that they will not be moving forward.
