I applied online. I interviewed at CIBC in May 2023
Interview
The interview process at CIBC typically begins with a phone screening by a recruiter to assess your background, interest in the role, and basic qualifications. This is followed by one or more interviews with hiring managers or team leads, focusing on technical skills, customer service experience, and alignment with CIBC’s values.

Question 1
Fairly easy, basic questions, why cibc, what are you strengths/weaknesses
The interview process began with an initial HR screening to understand my background and career goals. This was followed by a technical or case-based round to assess my problem-solving and domain expertise. I then had one or more interviews with team members or hiring managers focused on behavioral questions, collaboration style, and role fit. Throughout the process, communication was prompt, and I had the opportunity to ask questions and understand the team dynamics better.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself and explain your roles in previous positions?
The process was polite on the surface, but ultimately frustrating. I completed a skills test and interviewed with the hiring manager, then was ghosted without any feedback. There appears to be high team turnover, limited long-term planning, and inconsistent project funding. While individual team members were respectful, the overall experience felt disorganized and not intentional.

Question 1
A: “How do you balance creativity with compliance in your writing?”
I answered by explaining my experience writing within regulated environments, how I collaborate with legal teams, and how I use brand tone guidelines to maintain clarity and trust while meeting legal requirements.
