Very standard. 1 round on-site with hiring manager after receiving HR call. Interviewers are easy to talk and more focus on my experience. Technical questions are asked while talking further on the experience.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CIBC (Kingston) in Oct 2023
Interview
The interview process with CIBC was well-structured and professional. It began with an initial phone screening focused on my background, customer service experience, and motivation for the Financial Services Advisor role. This was followed by a virtual behavioral interview with a branch manager and HR representative, where I was asked situational questions about client interactions, sales targets, and teamwork. The interviewers were friendly and informative, providing a clear overview of the position, training program, and career progression within CIBC. Overall, the process was smooth and gave me a strong impression of the bank’s collaborative culture.

Question 1
They asked me to describe a time when I went above and beyond to help a client achieve their financial goal. The interviewer wanted to understand how I build relationships, identify client needs, and recommend suitable banking solutions.
The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON) in Nov 2025
Interview
The interview process was for Simplii Financial. It began with a recruiter who spent about 30 minutes checking if I was a fit for the role and asking about my technical capabilities, along with some qualitative and quantitative research questions.
After that, I had an interview with the hiring manager, which was honestly a joke. It was supposed to be a one hour interview, but it felt more like a vibe check. They asked me one question and then spent most of the time talking about their own work and their opinions on design.
I still made it to the final round. I was told to present a past project for 15 minutes, followed by 5 to 10 minutes of questions. Instead, they cut me off almost every time I tried to speak. Even during the basic qualitative and quantitative questions, they interrupted me, and at one point the hiring manager and the senior researcher were talking over each other.
