I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2016
Interview
The first screening happens at the info session where you will meet a lot of current and former GMRPs as well as recruiters and managers, so be prepared to give a good impression of yourself. At the interview, do not expect that they will try to make you very comfortable: it all happens in very small rooms with two interviewers and at least one of them was in the program. The process is not complicated (2-3 rounds) but apparently since this year they started to be even more selective and to merge rounds together and to "surprise" candidates. For example, people who are in the program and in CIBC told me that typically the first round is purely behavioural while this year they also asked candidates to solve a case (consultancy style: 2 paragraphs. Not an easy one, even for engineers as some other candidates agreed with me), which usually happens in the second round. Since the number of candidates they are interviewing is increasing every year, you will not have much time (about 30 minutes, including the case) to impress them. In my case they didn't even ask me a question why I wanted to get into this company specifically, but they went straight to the points that they were more interested in.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a circumstance in which you had to influence a person out of your team and how you made it. Describe your excel skills and give an example of the hardest task you ever performed with it. Why this program. What you believe gives you a competitive advantage in comparison to the other candidates.
